The Cleveland Indians picked up a 3-1 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Monday night. Great win for the Indians as they had ten hits compared to the Twins five hits. The tribe sure put a damper on the night for the Twins as the White Sox lost and they could have picked up some ground in the division.

Scott Lewis improved to 2-0 on the season as he picked up the win. Lewis tossed six innings of shutout baseball and only allowed three hits. Rafael Betancourt, Rafael Perez, and Jensen Lewis all tossed one inning in relief. Lewis picked up the save even though he did allow one run to score in the ninth inning.

All three of the Indians’s runs came via the home run ball. Kelly Shoppach got things started with a solo home run in the fourth inning and then Shin-Soo Choo added a two-run shot in the fifth inning. There wasn’t a lot of offense, but it was enough to get the win on Monday night.

The Cleveland Indians defeated the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday night by the score of 9-7 as they finished off the Tigers in the three game series. The Indians didn’t have any problems finishing up the sweep as they scored in five different innings and outhit the Tigers 13-9.

Kelly Shoppach and Shin-Soo Choo both hit two run home runs to lead the Indians at the plate. Shoppach also added another rbi with a single that scored Choo. Grady Sizemore had another good game as he had a two run single to finish with two rbi. Jhonny Peralta and Ryan Garko finished up the scoring with an rbi each.

On the mound, Fausto Carmona tossed six innings and allowed seven hits and four runs.  Fausto threw the ball well enough to pick up the win and improve to 7-5. Rafael Perez gave up a run and then Rafael Betancourt and Jensen Lewis finished things up in the eighth and ninth innings. Lewis did have some problems however as he allowed two runs on a Magglio Ordonez home run.

Once again it was the Cleveland Indians having no problems with the visiting Kansas City Royals. The Indians jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as they beat the Royals 10-3. With the win on Thursday afternoon, the Indians finished up a three game sweep of the Royals.

Grady Sizemore had a huge day as he went 4-5 with seven rbi! Sizemore had a three run home run, three run triple, and a rbi single in the game. Talk about production with the bases loaded by Sizemore! Shin-Soo Choo added a two run home run and Jhonny Peralta added a solo home run to finish out the Indians scoring.

Cliff Lee improved to 18-2 on the season as he shut down the Royals offense for seven innings. Lee gave up six hits and three runs while striking out seven batters. Rafael Betancourt and Brendan Donnelly pitched the final two innings of the game to keep the Royals at three runs.

The Cleveland Indians were defeated by the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday night by the score of 8-5.  It was a bad loss for the Tigers as they fell to 46-59.  The Indians can’t throw in the towel yet and they need to keep going out there and competing at a high level.

On Tuesday night it was Matt Ginter who took the loss after only pitching four innings.  It was a bad start by Ginter as he gave up eight hits and four runs.  Ginter is now 1-2 on the season for the Tribe.  Juan Rincon allowed two runs as well did Rafael Betancourt.  Bad night but those three Indian pitchers.

David Dellucci, Jhonny Peralta, Shin-Soo Choo, and Ryan Garko all had one rbi each for the Tribe.  The other run was when Grady Sizemore scored on a wild pitch in the ninth inning.  The offense wasn’t bad, the pitching staff just gave up too many rns.

The Cleveland Indians were trying to beat the Los Angeles Angels for the second straight game but they were unable to do so.  The Indians fell just short on Tuesday night by the score of 3-2.  All of the scoring came in the first five innings an then bullpens took over and stopped the scoring.

Matt Ginter took the loss for the Tribe and is now 1-1.  Ginter didn’t throw the ball too badly as he pitched six innings.  He allowed seven hits and three runs with one of those hits being a solo home run that proved to be the game winner in the 5th inning.

Rafael Betancourt and Juan Rincon pitched the 7th and 8th innings and did not have any problems.

Grady Sizemore got the Indians on the plate in the first inning with a solo home run that he hit off of Jered Weaver.  Franklin Gutierrez had the Indians second and final run of the game on a rbi triple that scored Kelly Shoppach in the 2nd inning.  The bats were held to those two runs as they did not score again the in the final seven innings of the game.

The Tribe can still win the series on the road if they can beat the Halos on Wednesday afternoon.

The Cleveland Indians were up 6-0 but wasted that big lead and ended up losing to the Detroit Tigers on a walk off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning.  Talk about a terrible way to end a game after being up 6-0.

Jensen Lewis gave up a two run home run to Miguel Cabrera in the bottom of the ninth as the Tigers went on to win.  Lewis is now 0-3 after taking the loss.  Paul Byrd got the start on the mound for the Tigers and pitched six innings while allowing nine hits and three runs.  Rafael Betancourt gave up a home run in the seventh inning and was charged with three runs.  Bad outing by those three Indians pitchers.

Grady Sizemore had rbi singles in the second and fourth innings to lead the Indians at the plate with two rbi.  Jhonny Peralta, Jamey Carrol, Casey Blake, and Shin-Soo Choo all finished up with one rbi apeace in the game.

The Indians will now start up a series with the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday.  Indians Blog

The San Francisco Giants have the Cleveland Indians number as they once again beat the Indians.  The Indians lost 4-1 and have now dropped the first two games of the three game series with the Giants.  The Indians will now have to win on Thursday to avoid an embaressing three game sweep in the series.

Jeremy Sowers pitched seven inning but gave up nine hits and three runs.  Five walks really hurt Sowers in the game and also a home run that he gave up.  Sowers is now 0-3 on the season.  When will Sowers get in the win column? Maybe we should run some sort of contest!

Rafael Betancourt served up a solo home run in the eighth inning as he pitched one inning in the game.  It was an insurance run that you never want to see the opposing team get as it makes it that much tougher for your team to come back in the game.  Joe Borowski got an inning of action in the ninth inning and pitched a scoreless inning.

Shin-Soo Choo had a rbi single in the seventh inning that scored Kelly Shoppach.  That was the only run for the Indians in the game.  It is hard to score runs when you only have six hits in the game and did not hit a home run.

So will the Indians avoid the three game sweep on Thursday against the Giants?  I’ll have to take the home town Indians in that bet.  What do you think leave us a comment!

It was an exciting end to the game on Tuesday night but the Cleveland Indians rally came up just short and the Indians lost to the San Francisco Giants by the score of 3-2.  Kelly Shoppach was up to bat with two outs in the ninth inning with two runners on base but struckout to end the game.

Rafael Betancourt ended up taking the loss after pitching 1 1/3 inning.  Masa Kobayashi also gave up a run in relief after Betancourt left the game.  Both of those runs really hurt the Indians as they were in line to win the game up until that eighth inning.

Indians starting pitcher Aaron Laffey pitched the first 6 2/3 innings of the game and didn’t do that badly.  Laffey allowed four hits and only one run in the game.  It is too bad that the bullpen blew it and he ended up with a no decision in the game.

The Indians were the first team to score in the game as Ryan Garko had a rbi single in the first inning that scored Grady SizemoreDave Delluci had a rbi ground out in the ninth inning that scored the Indians second run.  It would have been awesome to see the rally happen in the ninth inning, but as we mentioned before Shoppach just couldn’t get the job done.

The Cleveland Indians just can’t figure out things in the Rocky Mountains as they lost for the second straight game to the Colorado Rockies.  On Wednesday night it was the Rockies coming out on top with a 4-2 victory over the Indians.  Now the Indians will try to avoid the sweep on Thursday.

Losing pitcher Aaron Laffey threw six innings while allowing eight hits and three runs.  Laffey did have three walks and also gave up one home run in the game.  Rafael Betancourt pitched seventh and eighth innings and also allowed one run to cross the plate.  I don’t put much blame on the two pitchers because the offense should be hitting the ball a lot better if you ask me.

The offense really struggled against Rockies starter Jeff Francis.  They only had six hits on the night and struckout five times while leaving ten runners on base.  Jamey Carroll had a rbi double in the sixth inning and then Shin-Soo Choo had a rbi sac fly in the seventh inning.  I’m very dissapointed with how the Indians hit Wednesday night.

Starting pitcher Paul Byrd put the Cleveland Indians in a big hole early in the game and they were not able to come back in the game as the Minnesota Twins beat the Indians by the score of 8-5.  I should say that it was a close game and the Indians almost came back, but the Twins made sure they didn’t as they scored two insurance runs in the ninth inning.

Byrd gave up six hits and six runs in only three innings of action as he started the game on the mound.  Byrd gave up one home run in the third inning as he fell to 3-6 on the season.  Scott Elarton, Rick Bauer, and Rafael Betancourt all pitched great out of the bullpen but then Joe Borowski gave up three hits and two runs in the ninth inning.  Borowski just didn’t do his job to keep the Indians in the game.

Grady Sizemore hit a three run home run in the seventh inning as he finished the game with three rbi.  Kelly Shoppach also had a solo home run as he had one rbi in the game.  And not to be left out,  Jamey Carroll had one rbi in the game.

The Indians and Twins will play once again on Thursday which will be the rubber match of the series.
