The Cleveland Indians picked up a very nice win on Monday night as they beat the Boston Red Sox by the score of 4-3. The win was big for the Indians as the Red Sox are in the playoff race and are out there battling for every win that they can come up with.

The Indians beat Josh Beckett which was even more impressive. Shin-Soo Choo, Jamey Carroll, Asdrubal Cabrera, and Travis Hafner all had an rbi in the game. There wasn’t much offense, but the Indians did the best with their opportunities and that is why they came away with the victory.

Zach Jackson was the winning pitcher as he tossed six innings and only gave up six hits and two runs. It was a very good quality start for Jackson who improved his season record to 1-3. Rafael Perez gave up one run in relief before Jensen Lewis finished things up to get his 12th save of the year.

The Cleveland Indians used a five run fifth inning and a seven run eighth to their advantage as they beat the Tampa Bay Rays 13-2 on Thursday night. That is exactly the way you want to start off a four game series against the Rays who are in first place in the East Divsion.

The Indians had 14 hits and and scored 13 runs off of those 14 nine hits. Three home runs really helped out that is for sure. David Dellucci and Ben Francisco both hit two-run bombs while Shin-Soo Choo and Casey Blake both had solo home runs. Dellucci, Francisco, and Blake weren’t done however as Francisco added a two run single and Delluci and Blake both one run single in the ninth inning. Jamey Carroll added rbi ground out in the game while Johnny Peralta also had a rbi single.

Aaron Laffey pitched six innings to improve to 5-5 on the season. Laffey gave up four hits and two runs in his six innings of action. Rafael Perez pitched the seventh and eighth innings before he turned things over to who finished off the Rays to end the game. Juan Rincon pitched the ninth inning and loaded the bases full before finally getting out of the jam and ending the game.

The Indians will be looking to go up 2-0 in the series when they send Cliff Lee to the mound on Friday.

Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Jeremy Sowers only lasted three innings as he gave up eight runs on Monday night. Sowers put the Indians in a big hole against the Chicago White Sox and they went on to lose the game by the score of 9-7. Your starting pitcher has to pitch better than that to give your team a chance in the game.

Tom Mastny gave up one run while pitching three innings of relief. Edward Mujica and Joe Borowski both threw scoreless innings in the game.

The Indians did make things interesting in the ninth inning as they scored three runs but still lost the game by two runs. Jhonny Peralta led the Indians with a solo home run and three total rbi in the game. Shin-Soo Choo had two rbi, Jamey Carroll and David Dellucci both chipped in with one rbi each.

I do like the Indians chances on Tuesday night however. Cliff Lee will take the mound against the White Sox starter John Danks.

Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Cliff Lee really stepped up on Thursday night when the Indians really needed him to. Lee tossed eighth inning and struck out 11 Giants batters while only give up four runs to get the victory. With the win, the Indians were able to avoid the three game sweep by the Giants.

Lee is now 11-1 on the season with a 2.34 era! Lee was dominating on Thursday night as he rarely made a mistake. The only one to score off of him came in the fourth inning when Rich Auruilia had a rbi single. Other then that, Lee was on top of his game!

Joe Borowski pitched the ninth inning to pick up his sixth save of the season.

It was the Jamey Carroll and Jhonny Peralta show at the plate for the Indians. Carroll went 2-3 with two rbi while Peralta went 1-4 with two rbi. One thing that was bad as far as the Indians offense was that they never scored another run after the fourth inning. It was like the Giants were always hanging around and with one rally cold have tied or taken the lead. The Indians didn’t take advantage of all the runners on base as they stranded 16 of them in the game.

The Indians will now play a big weekend series with the Cincinnati Reds. The Reds are struggling right now so hopefully the Tribe can take two of three or even sweep the Reds!

Are you a Indians fan that enjoys reading and writing on Indians message boards and blogs? Indianshomeplate is currently looking for a Indians fan that would be interested in helping out with some game recaps during the week. If this sounds like fun, please use the contact us link at the top of the page or leave us a comment and we will get back to you. Thanks

The Cleveland Indians just can’t figure out things in the Rocky Mountains as they lost for the second straight game to the Colorado Rockies. On Wednesday night it was the Rockies coming out on top with a 4-2 victory over the Indians. Now the Indians will try to avoid the sweep on Thursday.

Losing pitcher Aaron Laffey threw six innings while allowing eight hits and three runs. Laffey did have three walks and also gave up one home run in the game. Rafael Betancourt pitched seventh and eighth innings and also allowed one run to cross the plate. I don’t put much blame on the two pitchers because the offense should be hitting the ball a lot better if you ask me.

The offense really struggled against Rockies starter Jeff Francis. They only had six hits on the night and struckout five times while leaving ten runners on base. Jamey Carroll had a rbi double in the sixth inning and then Shin-Soo Choo had a rbi sac fly in the seventh inning. I’m very dissapointed with how the Indians hit Wednesday night.

Starting pitcher Paul Byrd put the Cleveland Indians in a big hole early in the game and they were not able to come back in the game as the Minnesota Twins beat the Indians by the score of 8-5. I should say that it was a close game and the Indians almost came back, but the Twins made sure they didn’t as they scored two insurance runs in the ninth inning.

Byrd gave up six hits and six runs in only three innings of action as he started the game on the mound. Byrd gave up one home run in the third inning as he fell to 3-6 on the season. Scott Elarton, Rick Bauer, and Rafael Betancourt all pitched great out of the bullpen but then Joe Borowski gave up three hits and two runs in the ninth inning. Borowski just didn’t do his job to keep the Indians in the game.

Grady Sizemore hit a three run home run in the seventh inning as he finished the game with three rbi. Kelly Shoppach also had a solo home run as he had one rbi in the game. And not to be left out, Jamey Carroll had one rbi in the game.

The Indians and Twins will play once again on Thursday which will be the rubber match of the series.

Fausto Carmona earned his second win of the season as he tossed 6.2 innings. Carmona gave up seven hits but only one earned run. It was a great day for Carmona and the Indians bullpen as they just manhandled the Tigers.
