Starting pitcher Paul Byrd put the Cleveland Indians in a big hole early in the game and they were not able to come back in the game as the Minnesota Twins beat the Indians by the score of 8-5.  I should say that it was a close game and the Indians almost came back, but the Twins made sure they didn’t as they scored two insurance runs in the ninth inning.

Byrd gave up six hits and six runs in only three innings of action as he started the game on the mound.  Byrd gave up one home run in the third inning as he fell to 3-6 on the season.  Scott Elarton, Rick Bauer, and Rafael Betancourt all pitched great out of the bullpen but then Joe Borowski gave up three hits and two runs in the ninth inning.  Borowski just didn’t do his job to keep the Indians in the game.

Grady Sizemore hit a three run home run in the seventh inning as he finished the game with three rbi.  Kelly Shoppach also had a solo home run as he had one rbi in the game.  And not to be left out,  Jamey Carroll had one rbi in the game.

The Indians and Twins will play once again on Thursday which will be the rubber match of the series.

The game between the Cleveland Indians and the Detroit Tigers was over after the first two innings when the Indians were already up 8-0.  The Indians ended up going on to beat the Tigers by the score of 8-2.  The teams had to wait things out with a 57 minute rain delay in the game but then, the game was more less over on the scoreboard.

Cliff Lee won his 10th game of the season to improve his record to 10-1.  Lee came back out in the fifth inning after the rain delay to finish his five innings so he could record the win.  He allowed six hits and two runs in his five innings of action.

Rafael Perez pitched two scoreless innings of relief while Rafael Betancourt and Masa Kobayashi pitched one scoreless inning each.  Good job by the three relief pitchers.

Ryan Garko hit a three run home run in the first inning and then was hit by a pitch in the second inning with the bases loaded as he led the Indians at the plate with four rbi.  Kelly Shoppach also hit a home run in the game as he hit a two run shot in the second inning to finish with two rbi.  Jhonny Peralta and Shin-Soo Choo chipped in with one rbi each as well.

The Indians will now start a three game series against the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday night.

Things looked very good for the Cleveland Indians after they scored four runs in the top of the first inning but after that everything went down hill for them as they lost to the Texas Rangers 9-4.  Pretty dissapointing game as you come out of the gates and score four quick runs, but then have trouble the next eight inning and don’t score one run.  Something is wrong there if you ask me.

C.C. Sabathia took the loss and is now 3-8 on the season.  Sabathia gave up nine hits, five runs (four earned, three walks, and struckout eight batters.  Rafael Betancourt allowed three runs while only lasting 2/3 of an inning.  Edward Mujica then came in and gave up another run in 1 1/3 innings of action.  All three pitchers had trouble as you can tell.

The first inning is really all there is to blog about for the offense.  David Dellucci had a two run double while Victor Martinez had a rbi single and Jhonny Peralta had a rbi double. I really thought the Indians would get some more runs as the game went on, but Kevin Millwood figured things out and shut them down the rest of the game.

The Cleveland Indians scored seven runs on Tuesday night but the bad news was that the Texas Rangers actually scored 12 runs.  The Indians made things interesting in the seventh and eighth innings but then the Rangers answered back with three runs of their own in the eighth inning.

Tom Mastny was absolutely rocked as he only lasted 1 1/3 innings as he gave up six hits and five runs.  Mastny gave up two home runs in the game as he pitcher terribly.

The Indians bullpen wasn’t much better however.  Jensen Lewis, Edward Mujica, and Rafael Perez, all gave up two runs each in the game.  Scott Elarton also gave up one run.  Just a bad performance by everyone that pitched for the Indians.

Shin-Soo Choo had a two run double in the seventh inning and then a solo home run in the ninth inning to lead the Indians with three rbi at the plate.  Ben Francisco, Ryan Garko, and Jhonny Peralta all helped out with one rbi each but it wasn’t enough for the Indians.

Casey Blake cracked two home runs and finished with seven rbi as the Cleveland Indians beat the Texas Rangers on Monday night by the score of 13-9.  It seemed like the teams were playing home run derby out there as both teams combined for six home runs in the game.

Besides Blake’s huge night, Ben Francisco had a two run home run and finished the game with three rbi.  David Dellucci also added a two run home run in the eighth inning and Asdrubal Cabrera had a rbi double in the third inning.  That is a lot of production up and down the lineup for the Indians.

Masa Kobayashi pitched 1 2/3 innings to get the victory for the Indians.  Kobayashi did give up one run in but still picked up his third win of the season.  Rafael Perez and Joe Borowski pitched the final  2 1/3 innings to finish up the game.

Starting pitcher, Aaron Laffey was roughed up in only five innings of action.  Laffey gave up 11 hits and eight runs as he was hit very hard all night long.

In the end however, it was a good win for the Indians.  Indians Blog
