The Cleveland Indians came up just short against the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday as they lost 6-5.  The Indians had runners on third and second with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning but they were unable to score a run to force extra rinnings.

Rafael Betancourt (1-3) ended up with the loss as he pitched the seventh and eighth innings for the Indians.  Indians starting pitcher Jake Westbrook only lasted five innings as he gave up five hits and three runs in the game.  No the usual performance that Indians fans are used to seeing out of Westbrook.

Jhonny Peralta led the Indians at the plate as he hit his 11th home run and had two rbi in the game.  Victor Martinez and David Dellucci also had one rbi each in the game for the Indians.

The Indians will now be off on Thursday before starting up a weekend series with the Kansas City Royals.  The Indians need to have a very good road trip if they want to get back towards the top of the pack in the American League Central Division.

The Cleveland Indians have now lost six straight games as they lost to the Chicago White Sox by the score of 3-1 on Thursday night.  With that 3-1 loss to the White Sox, the Indians were swept for the second straight series.  They were swept by the Cincinnati Reds before the White Sox series.

Aaron Laffey took the loss for the Indians even though he didn’t pitch too badly.  He pitched seven innings while allowing six hits and only two runs.  He struckout six batters and only walked one as his record dropped to 2-3 on the season.

The lone rbi for the Indians came in the third inning when Grady Sizemore doubled and scored Franklin Gutierrez.

The Indians will try to break their six game losing streak on Friday when the begin a series with the Texas Rangers.  Hopefully they can get back on track and starting winning some ballgames.

It was a nice pitching duel heading into the game as C.C. Sabathia and Jose Contreras were facing off.  Too bad for the Indians, Contreras pitched better then Sabathia and the Chicago White Sox defeated the Indians by the score of 4-1.

Sabathia pitched seven innings and gave up seven hits and two runs to to take the loss.  C.C. gave up two solo home runs in the game to account for the two runs scored against him.  Sabathia is now a disappointing 3-6 on the season and needs to get things turned around in a hurry.

Jensen Lewis tossed the eighth inning and allowed two more runs to cross the plate for the White Sox.

Grady Sizemore had the only rbi for the Indians when he grounded out to first in the third inning.  Casey Blake scored on the play however.

Will the Indians bounce back on Wednesday when they face off with the White Sox again?  Leave us a comment and let us know!

The Cleveland Indians completed a three game sweep of the Oakland Athletics with a 4-2win on Thursday afternoon.  It was a big series for the Indians as they improved to 22-19 on the season.

Aaron Laffey pitched seven innings to pick up the win which was his second of the sesaon.  Laffey only gave up five hits.  He did let one run score when he had a bad throw to first base in the second inning and a runner scored.  Other then that one error, Laffey had a good game all around.

Jensen Lewis, Rafael Betancourt, and Masa Kobayashi pitched in the game out of the bullpen.  Betancourt gave up one run that was charged to him on a Kobayashi wild pitch in the ninth inning.  Luckily for the Indians, Kobayashi was able to get out of the inning as the A’s stranded two runners on base to get his second save of the season.

The four runs put up by the Indians came from four different players.  Jhonny Peralta had a solo home run, Ryan Garko had a rbi double, Ben Francisco and Travis Hafner both had rbi singles in the game.

C.C. Sabathia and Joe Blanton had a nice pitching dual going on Wedneday night and good thing for the Indians that Sabathia pitched just a little bit better and the Indians won the game 2-0.

Sabathia threw a complete game while giving up five hits and not allowing a run.  Sabathia improved to 3-5 on the season with the victory.  He just dominated the A’s all night long and it was awesome to see.

The Indians hit two solo home runs to account for both of their runs in the game.  Grady Sizemore went deep in the first inning and then Ryan Garko hit a home run in the fourth inning.  Lucky for the offense that Sabathia was on top of his game since they only put up two runs.

Three Cleveland Indians pitchers combined to shut out the Oakland Athletics 4-0 on Tuesday night.  It was a big win for the Indians as the improved to 20-19 on the season.

Starting pitcher Paul Byrd pitched 7 1/3 innings while only giving up five hits.  Byrd struck out seven batters and did not walk a batter.  Rafael Perez pitched 1/3 of an inning and then Masa Kobayashi pitched 1/3 of an inning as well to get the Indians out of the eighth inning and then pitched the ninth inning to finish the game.

The Indians were struck with one run going into the bottom of the eighth inning but then Ryan Garko gave the Indians some insurance runs when he hit a three run home run to extend the lead to the 4-0.  The first rbi for the Indians came from Travis Hafner who had a rbi single in the first inning

There wasn’t much offense, so it was a good thing that the pitching straff stepped up and held the A’s to zero runs.  Not the way you want to always in a game, but a win is a win the Indians will take it!

The Cleveland Indians and Toronto Blue Jays played in two pitchers duels on Monday afternoon and night as the both teams picked up one win and one loss.  The Indians picked up a win in the first game as Fausto Carmona tossed a complete game shutout and the Indians won 3-0.

David Delluci got the Indians on the board in the first game with a rbi single in the sixth inning and then Asdrubal Cabrera had a two run home run in the seventh inning.  It was a good thing as well because the Indians only had five hits in the game.

Onto the second game, it was the Indians on the losing end of a 3-0 game once again.  The Indians only came up with three hits in the game.  No wonder why they were shutout lol.

Cliff Lee had tossed nine full inning and gave up seven hits but no runs in the game.  No runs support for him however as he took home the no decision.  Asdrubal Cabrera pitched the tenth inning and allowed all three runs as he took the loss to drop his record to 1-2.

Cliff Lee improved to 6-0 on the season as he faced off against Chien-Ming Wang in a battle of the un-beatens on Wednesday night.   The Cleveland Indians beat the New York Yankees and Wang by the score of 3-0.

Lee threw seven innings and only allowed six hits and no runs in the game as he stayed undefeated.  Lee struckout seven batters without walking a batter.  A great preformance for Lee as he went up against a very good offense in the Yankees.

Rafael Perez and Rafael Betancourt pitched the last two innings of the game and only allowed one run.  Betancourt closed the door on the Yankees in the ninth inning as he picked up his fourth save of the season.

The Indians scored in three different innings as they got RBI from three different players.  David Dellucci, Victor Martinez, and Casey Blake all had a RBI in the game.

Now that was a great win for the Indians!  Indians Blog

The Cleveland Indians got three runs in the eighth inning and held on to defeat the New York Yankees by the score of 5-3.

David Dellucci connected a three run home run off of Joba Chamberlain in the eighth inning to give the Indians the victory.  Talk about a huge pitch hit home run for Dellucci and especially off of Chamberlain who is usually lights out.

Delluci led the Indains with three RBI in the game.  Jhonny Peralta had the other two RBI for the Indians.  Peralta went deep for a two run shot in the fourth inning.

Rafael Perez picked up the win as he pitched in relief of Fausto Carmona.  Carmona tossed five innings and as he gave up six hits and three runs.  Rafael Betancourt earned his third save of the season for the Indians.
